VIN: 124CS10137456
Mileage: 75,049
This 1978 Fiat 124 Spider has a Pininfarina-designed body and is an Arizona car from the previous owner. The current owner has had the car garage kept in N. Virginia for the last year and a half, (never driven in rain). Unlike most Fiats and given its Arizona heritage, this Spider has no rust except for a small spot inside the hood opening.
Red with black interior, powered by a 1.8-liter DOHC inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top and matching boot cover, 13″ Speedline alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, woodgrain interior trim, and an Optimus AM/FM/cassette radio. The 1.8-liter inline-four was factory rated at 87 horsepower and features double-overhead camshafts and a switch to manually control the cooling fan.
The current owner:
Has installed a new convertible top (including top handles and frame covers), new Hood Insulation Pads and new hood cowl end pads.
Refurbished the trunk area with new panel cover spare tire and vinyl cover, installed new battery.
Maintenance performed by the current owner includes new ignition components/spark plug wires/ points adjustment. A new High-Performance Weber 34 ADF Carburetor for years 1975-1980 was installed. Carburetor needs some fine tuning/adjustment. Fuel supply check valve was replaced with an OEM new valve. Brake calipers were cleaned and adjusted and an oil change was performed.
The previous owner:
Repainting the car in 2014 (same red). Other work included fitting a manual cooling fan switch, replacing exhaust system components in 2018, replacing the spark plugs and valve cover gasket in 2020. Installed new replacement front seats upholstered in black vinyl and replaced the carpets.
Additional features include a black boot cover, a front-hinged hood, vent windows, and chrome-plated bumpers and trim. The two-spoke steering wheel features a wood rim and sits ahead of a Veglia Borletti 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The vent window latches are missing. The silver-finished 13″ Speedline alloy wheels have a mixed set of Falken and Ironman tires. Coil-spring suspension includes wishbone control arms and an anti-roll bar up front along with trailing arms and a Panhard rod out back. Braking is supplied by discs at all four wheels. The windshield wipers operate slow and the clock adjuster stem is not working.
