Shower drain installation is not an incredibly tough job, so long as you do your research before you attempt to set everything up. Understanding what type of wet-area pan and drainage you have will assist you in understanding which wet-area drainage system is right for you. Something to keep in mind while doing your research is that a lot of wet-area drain pipes are created for a standard 2" drain pipe. The function for the 2" drain is to keep the wet area from flooding, as wet areas tend to do. If you happen to be going from a wet area/bathtub combination to a strictly wet area, you will probably need to alter the drainage pipeline size from a 1 1/2" pipeline to a 2" pipeline. An important thing to remember when installing this DIY drain kit is that you will need to design/install the tiles in such a way that they slope towards the drain in order to best guide the water into it. Assemble these shower accessories from top to bottom as follows: blue, square construction plug, small slotted metal disc (hair trap), black height adjuster, and bonding flange. Our drains are sold separately and come in chrome, brass/bronze, or nickel. Use this to adjust the height of your slim, fast-draining grate so that it is even with your tile. You can even purchase multiple grates to have a replacement on hand. The bonding flange has an outlet that is 2” in diameter. To attach this part of the bonding flange to your plumbing, simply use regular PVC glue. With this kit, you’ll have everything you need to install a drain and stylish grate that works for you.
