    For sale is one used bare cast iron cylinder head.
    Casting # 3755549
    Data Code: D 15 9 (April 15, 1959)
    For 1958-1959 Chevy Trucks (283ci)
    This is an original 549 head that is in good buildable condition. Please see all the pictures below all of this text, there are about 20 pics, so keep on scrolling down!
    We took it to our local machine shop where it was magnafluxed, steel shot peened, and inspected.
    They mag'ed good with no cracks, there is still some steel shot on the inside from the shot peening process.
    The head bolt mount holes have grooves on them from the bolt heads being torqued down over the years, this will not affect the performance but washers may have to be used for them.
    The combustion chambers are clean except for one, it has some gouge marks around the chamber (Pictures).
    The mounting hole threads are all in great shape, the rocker studs also have good threads.
    We paid our machine shop mechanic to inspect these heads, if there were any issues that would caus problems we would know.
    They will need further machining and work done to them, they should not be assembled in their current condition.
