Pontiac 389 Engine Motor Block Standard Bore

For sale is a first-year 1959 Pontiac 389 bare block including the original main caps and bolts. Casting number 532000, front of block stamped [C or 0]048010 and 859C 2026. I can send photos of the numbers/stamps all over the block if requested. The engine still had the original head gaskets, bearings, and other parts when disassembled. It should interchange with 1960 and other Pontiac V8 years and parts, but it is the buyer's responsibility to research and verify the block fits his/her parts/vehicle. The 1959 and 1960 blocks are known to be thicker castings that can often be overbored .120" or more with proper sonic testing. A popular method is to bore these blocks .058" and use standard-bore 400 pistons which are cheaper, come in a wider variety of styles, and have a wider variety of ring options.
The block is used and shows signs of dirt, grime, nicks, surface rust, corroded iron, pitting, scratches, and peeled paint. Some of the cylinders sat with water in them for a long time resulting in surface rust and pitting. I have photographed each cylinder and added notes. The two worst cylinders look like they should clean up at .058" overbore without needing sleeves, but your machinist will have the final say. I find no cracks, broken casting, or other damage to the block, but the grime may be hiding issues. The block has not been magnafluxed, pressure tested, or sonic tested and is sold as a core, as-is with no guarantee. Please see my other listing for more 389 parts.
