    Description

Straight from my little 1938 tiled-in black and white shower... the complete shower valve kit as removed from the wall in working (not leaking) condition.  For shower only, no bath fitting on this one.  My wife LOVED the pressure-washer feel to the shower head but the old lead liner in the shower was leaking so it was time to redo.  Firm closure on the hot and cold handles fully turned off the flow.  It would drip very slowly if they weren't full closed, so the rubber seats or whatever is inside the valves probably needs replacing, but that's how these old valves were meant to be maintained, not thrown away every ten (or less) years like the ones made today.  Marked 'Made in USA' and 'Standard' in the same font you'd usually see embossed American Standard.
Standard 1/2 inch threaded openings for the supply lines, 1/2 inch threads for the pipe to the shower head.  8in on center valves, original escutcheons, handles, shower arm.  I'm guessing the shower head was replaced at some point- we're keeping the 50's era shower head but do include a NOS nearly identical shower head that I'd found at a reuse store as a spare.  Note the nice length on the shower arm and a nice knobby escutcheon fitted to it.
Great for a retro renovation or rehabbing an original shower to save amazing old tile.  It hurt me a bit to tear this one out.  Condition is not flawless but nice for the age.  Having worked in salvage I can tell you it's hard to piece together a set that all fits together well.  Screw threads are all in good and usable condition throughout, hand tightening right up the final bit with a wrench.
I can provide guidance to a CA company that reproduces the seats for these old valves.  Please ask away with any questions.
